Surfing

The beaches in Lahinch and Fanore are excellent for surfing, no matter what your ability is. They have a variety of breaks that cater for novice, intermediate and experienced surfers. Five miles further south from Lahinch you will find Spanish Point, which is another great surfing beach. These beaches are among some of the best places in Europe to learn surfing with the advantage of the slower rolling Atlantic waves.

Lessons

There are a selection of surf schools to choose from in the area. They all provided safe, relaxed and affordable introductions to surfing plus for the more advanced people there are lessons available to help improve surfing technique. All the schools detailed below are Irish Surfing Association Approved.

Aloha Surf School runs surfing lessons in the heart of the Burren at fanore Beach. Located on the Wild Atlantic Way, away from the heavily populated centres, beautiful fanore Beach with it's space and incrowded surf offers the ideal location for those wanting to take part in the adventurous experience that is surfing! Bens Surf Clinic is based in Lahinch and offers lessons for beginners. imporvers and advanced surfers and offers weekend surf camps and kids camps. Ben specialises in smaller groups that have surfed before but need to improve their technique and skill. Suitable for all levels www.benssurfclinic.com.

Lahinch Surf School which is run by Irish Surfing Champion John McCarthy, www.lahinchsurfschool.com. His school caters mostly for groups that have never surfed before.

All the schools provide surfing lessons for all ability and ages. These lessons will teach you the techniques of surfing, cover water safety and ocean awareness and provide you with all the equipment necessary for your lesson.
